Tonight the girls were able to relax with a pajama, pizza, and ice cream party with a motivational speech given by our director Suzie Kendal. Suzie talked about Ty Redd and the impact he had on people’s lives before his own was taken in a firearm accident. The message of the speech was that we will not be remembered by the tiaras and buckles we win but by the impact we make on people’s lives through acts of service and being generous to all that around us. All of the girls enjoyed themselves and wrote down a note about their favorite memory for the week.
My favorite memories are “the moments in between”. I love that this is a weeklong contest and that the contestants and the committee get to “live” together. I have enjoyed the long waits in the hall, waiting for a single impromptu question and the late night fashion show practices where everyone gets a little loopy. Each contestant’s personality has shown so strong and I have enjoyed getting to know each girl a little better. I have strengthened old friendships as well as made new ones. I know I will keep these memories and friendships for the rest of my life. To the Fantastic Four, thank you for all the laughs!
Martina Wardle, Miss Rodeo Utah 2010
My favorite times during the MRU pageant were at the rodeo. I really enjoyed meeting so many new people. While selling our 50/50 tickets one night, people started paying us to take pictures with them because we had ran out of tickets and still wanted to be generous. Later that evening while signing autographs, an adorable seven year old boy said “Hey babe! Can I get your digits?” That night I realized how great people really are, how generous, kind, and uplifting they really can be. It made me reflect on all the people who have helped me get here to the pageant-my sponsors, the cute neighbor kids, even complete strangers, who have been so supportive and encouraging. Thank you for all of your help; for making me tough and stay progressing to this point.
Lacey Godfrey, contestant #1
“Who are you calling a cootie queen you lint licker” My favorite memories were all the laughs we had about the silliest things.
Tiffanie Kind, contestant #2
My favorite memory is of Tiffanie falling asleep on Regan’s leg and drooling on her pants for fashion show.
Bailee Sizemore, contestant #3
My favorite Miss Rodeo Utah memory was during our panel interviews when Gabe Garcia sang to us. It made it much less stressful and entertaining too.
-Dani Frandsen, contestant #4
I have way too many favorite memories. Getting to know everyone was my favorite and seeing Jamie spray the ants in our room with starch was great.
-Raeshell Larsen, contestant #5
A memorable moment for me was trying to catch up on sleep while our “sweet and loving” neighbors (Regan and Tiffany) randomly pound on the wall and prank called us.
-Chenae Shiner, contestant #6
I was so tired after the rodeo; I got in the shower and while I was washing my hair, I noticed that I still had my socks on…..well it didn’t matter. I kept on washing my hair. At least I now have a clean pair of socks. Lol. This week was so much fun and I loved all the girls and the fun we had.
-Regan Torres, contestant #7
On the first day I was so excited and nervous at the same time. This pageant has changed my life. I encourage everyone to go through the doors that are opened for you. Dreams do come true. This year has been the best year of my life. Thank you everybody!
Shayla Summerall, contestant #8
My most memorable memory from the Miss Rodeo Utah competition was the numerous amounts of times my roommate and I had to go to the hotel front desk to get new rooms keys. We had about twelve keys in a pile in our room at the end of the week and the front desk knew us by name and room number.
Stephanie Jimmerson, contestant #9
My favorite part was selling 50/50 tickets at the rodeo. The fans are so excited to see each one of us. But the best is when a little girl tugs on your shirt and looks you straight in the eye and says, “I can’t wait to grow up and be just like you.”
-Jamie Udell, contestant #10
My favorite part of the contest was meeting some of the best friends I will ever have. The rodeo and grand entry was so fun. I also loved that after the fashion show was over and we all cheered and were proud of ourselves. I loved when Chantell said “isn’t it amazing that we know what day the 24th of July is going to be on in 2013” Blonde Moment! Taking mental pictures of John Wayne’s behind at late night fashion show practices. I just can’t choose one! Funnest week of my life! “We’re the best four friends that anyone could have” Love you guys!
-Makenzie Maughan, contestant #11
My favorite part of the contest was being able to spend time with a bunch of great girls. All of our late nights and early mornings led to a lot of laughs. Our “blonde” moments were the best! Every night at the rodeo was a blast with the fantastic four. Thank you girls!
-Morgan Blackhurst, contestant #12
I have so many memories that choosing one is hard because they are all so great. I will always remember enjoying the 45 minute naps with the Fantastic Four, “nsting” with Makenzie, scouting with Morgan at the rodeo, cuddling with Martina, and never having a dull moment. Thank you to all the girls for making memories!
-Chantell Pilcher, contestant #13
