Miss Rodeo Utah 2008
Ranae Cowley
Renae Cowley, an agriculture communications student at Utah State University, won the Miss Rodeo Utah crown at the final performance of the 75th annual Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo.
Cowley, 19, daughter of Craig and Carla Cowley of West Point, won two of the five judged events of the weeklong pageant held as part of Ogden Pioneer Days, the biggest statehood celebration in Utah.
“I am grateful and humbled by this great opportunity. I plan to represent Utah and rodeo with class and integrity,” Cowley said. “I am extremely appreciative of my friends and family who have helped me attain my goal of becoming Miss Rodeo Utah. I am looking forward to fulfilling my duties and traveling the great state of Utah.”
A panel of judges awarded Cowley the horsemanship and appearance awards.
Chris Wade, Heber, a student at Weber State University, won first-runner up and the photogenic and public-speaking categories. Ashlee Autumn Stewart, Fairview, won the personality and second-runner up awards.
Tammy Jo Bardwell, Garland, won third-runner up and Lacey Bennett, Hooper, was fourth-runner up.
Jamie Udell, Pine Valley, was honored with the congeniality award, voted by the other contestants as the friendliest at the pageant.
Cowley will represent Utah at the Miss Rodeo America pageant in November in Las Vegas. The pageant is held in conjunction with the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
